Drawings — Still Life
These drawings are in pencil on white paper. They go beyond the line drawings that illustrate Queen’s Road Central and Other Stories to explore depth, the play of light, and the textures of materials.
The subjects are plaster cast of busts (sculptures of head, shoulders and upper chest of human being), and still life arrangements of everyday objects such as glassware, tin, steel, cloth and other fabrics.
The aim is to develop greater richness in the drawing style, and a repertoire of idioms to tackle varied subjects, so as to convey not merely the subject but the atmosphere or tone
